System categories vs. personal categories

Cora comes with built-in system categories like Calendar, Newsletter, Promotion, Important Info, and others. These are designed to automatically sort your emails. You can also create your own personal categories.

Can I delete system categories?

System categories cannot be deleted through the Cora chat or settings. They are part of Cora's core email classification system. If you ask Cora to delete them, it will let you know they are protected.

How to hide categories you don't want

If you want a simpler setup with fewer categories:

  1. Tell Cora what you want β€” describe the categories you want to keep, and Cora will route emails accordingly. Unused categories will stop appearing in your briefs.

  2. Hide Gmail labels β€” in Gmail, you can hide Cora category labels from the sidebar. Go to Gmail Settings, then Labels, and set "hide" for any Cora labels you don't want to see.

  3. Contact support β€” if you want categories completely disabled on your account, reach out to us and we can do that for you.

Categories keep coming back?

If you've tried to remove categories and they reappear, this is because Cora's system syncs categories periodically. The categories aren't being "re-created," they were never fully removed. Contact us and we'll disable the ones you don't want.
